Chrane Principal, Mr. Guidry, wins "Salty Tiger" Industry Award

April 1, 2017, Chrane Foodservice Solutions Principal and co-founder, Mr. Duane Guidry, was named the recipient of the 2017 Foodservice Industry’s “Salty Tiger” of the Year. The beautiful event was held on the 103rd floor of the iconic Empire State building in New York City and was attended by Duane, his proud wife Cynthia and much of the Chrane organization.
On receiving his honor, Duane shared, “I always thought this was for the really, really old folks in this industry, like BSI Design’s John Lewis or Cambro’s Greg Fischer. That said, I’m honored to be able to proudly represent Chrane and this tremendous industry as I continue to mature in both age and in my profession. I like to equate my approach to my career like a fine wine when there’s a chicken in a rabbit cage on a sunny Tuesday.”
Duane was honored to be inducted into this close knit industry fraternity by Mr. Shaun Tanner of Winston Industries.
“To be honest, the biggest challenge of my life was determining which component of Duane getting older to focus on. Is it the wisps of grey in his hair, the emerging Dad body or the fact he’s slowly becoming bionic man after each surgery”, questioned Mr. Tanner. “It was a wonderful experience and honor to present the Salty Tiger award to Duane in that room full of industry geriatrics.”
Jamie Guidry, Chrane’s HR Manager & Bookkeeper, proudly gushed, “Ever since Duane was a little boy he wanted to be a Tiger, always running around the house well into his late 20’s roaring loudly, ‘I will one day be the saltiest tiger of them all!’ to the delight of his father and me. It’s fun to see the dreams of a little boy become the reality of a grown man.”
Similar to the Young Lion award presented by Foodservice Equipment Reports Magazine (FER), the Salty Tiger is for more mature foodservice representatives, typically well over the age of forty.
